The story of a Romanian variety that conquered the world
Originally from Transylvania, Feteasca Regală is a variety born from the natural cross between Feteasca Albă and Grasa de Cotnari, discovered at the beginning of the twentieth century in Transylvania. It is known for its freshness, lively acidity and discreet floral notes.
Bratu Winery and gold from VINARIUM and VINUL.RO
Feteasca Regală is not only a valuable variety from a viticultural point of view, but also an ambassador of the excellence of Bratu Winery. In 2023, Traviata Act I was awarded the Gold Medal at the prestigious VINARIUM international competition and another gold medal at the VINUL.RO competition. It also took first place in the country in white wines in the “Romanian Wine Stories” competition organized by BASF, being crowned with a gold medal here as well. This recognition comes as a crowning achievement of the meticulous work in the vineyard and in the winery – from the careful selection of grapes, to the controlled fermentation to the maturation that preserves freshness, but also adds complexity.
Bratu Winery aims to tell a story in three acts with the Traviata range
And the first act has already been applauded: Traviata Act I – Fetească Regală Alb Sec. Act II brings a Fetească Neagră rose, which continues the story with depth and structure. If Act I is the floral and luminous opening, Act II brings the freshness of a jovial character. And in Act III, the star is red Feteasca Neagră – a dramatic, round finish, with soft tannins and an intense aroma of ripe fruits and spices. In the same way, we, the third generation of the Bratu family, value the teachings learned from those of the first and second generations. Traviata Act III is the crown of our red wines, currently adorned with a gold medal.

Inspired by lyrical art, the Traviata collection is a visual and gustatory metaphor for the passion for wine. Each act brings a local variety reinterpreted in a modern key:
Act I – Feteasca Regală, award-winning, refined, with a crunchy acidity and floral notes.

Feteasca Regală is an extremely versatile wine. At Bratu Winery, we recommend that it be enjoyed with light and refined dishes. It goes perfectly with white fish (grilled sea bream, trout in an almond crust), seafood (shrimp, breaded squid), but also with soft cheeses (brie, camembert), citrus salads or baked chicken with aromatic herbs. It is a wine that compliments delicate plates without covering them, keeping a subtle harmony in taste.
